Environmental Impact of Power Platform
Business professionals all around the world are using the Microsoft Power Platform to analyze data, build solutions, automate processes, and create virtual agents. Did you know these powerful tools are also being used to influence change in both state and local government?
We all need water, preferably clean and healthy water, in our everyday life.

Jared Brown, Vice President of Data & Analytics at Tallan had the opportunity to work alongside DC Water as their Microsoft Partner to use the cloud and artificial intelligence technologies to conduct predictive analytics on the water distribution system in an effort for DC Water to be more proactive than reactive. “We are thrilled to have partnered with DC Water on this initiative.” Brown notes, “The maturity of their data strategy and innovative attitude is so refreshing. These are the kinds of projects we are proud to work on.”
This included a project that proactively identified potential water main break scenarios and water quality challenges, as well as streamlining and automating certain administrative needs, like billing.

Water distribution system
DC Water is not a typical municipal water treatment facility by any standard. The independent authority supplies 99 million gallons of fresh water every day while collecting and treating water for more than 700,000 residents of DC and 20 million+ annual visitors. It manages 1,300 miles of pipes and 1,800 miles of combined sanitary sewers that feed wastewater into its Blue Plains wastewater treatment facility, the largest in the world.*
