    Hi Girls,

    Looks like group is silent for some time :) Why not add some spice ;)

    Lets start with Power BI projects we all women are rocking with at our workplaces. We can discuss in detail if we find any very interesting.

    Let me start with mine:

    I am working on Power BI project with a bank in UAE. The bank is very naive and very new to digital world.Hence giving me an opportunity to start and create basic to complex stuff for them . I am finding it very hard because people are very new to this kinda stuff :)

    What are you feeling for working on your projects?

    Hi, Rema. I think this is a great idea.

    I work in marketing. So, all of my reports are based on in-market digital media + social media + website analytics. Basically, I take all of the paid media sources (DoubleClick, AdWords, Bing Ads, Yahoo Gemini, Facebook Ads Manager), export CSV files to a client-specific SharePoint folder, then connect to that folder for my data source. Within BI, I then clean up the data a little (my naming conventions are such that they define specific attributes of the ads like device, creative show, if the creative was animated or static, etc - so I break my names apart into those fields). Then, connect the various data sources via the similar fields. This way I can see how one media source affects the others and affects website traffic and engagement. My biggest challenge though is how much manual work I have currently because none of my media sources have a pre-existing data connector. So I need to do a LOT of cleaning because the export reports from the sources aren't in the best format to use (lots of header rows and a totals row at the bottom of the data). But, once the BI reports are built, they get the job done & my clients seem to like seeing how all of their digital media works together with their website traffic and engagement.

    Hi Taryn,

    Thanks for sharing your work project. I am glad that you briefly explained. Actually these kind of projects include Data cleaning because they are not in the format which we want ; so we have to transform them a little bit.

    My suggestion for your manual work will be to use any of the programming language and automate your steps if they are fixed and have some fixed business logic. Then running the queries and BI analysis will be only your task.


    I have seen Marketing data. I can imagine the amount of insights you must be getting out of it once data is in proper shape.
