Hello 34 (We have 34 PUG members),

A couple of things to tell you:

    • Thank you to NJAMHAA for sharing the dates for the upcoming "Dashboard In A Day" sessions.
    • Some of our members are wait-listed for the session on Tue, Aug 21 in Malvern, PA
    • Another learning option is Power BI Black Belt Series On-Demand
    • Next CNJ PUG is Wed, Aug 29, 6-8pm, Microsoft Store in Freehold Raceway Mall.
    • The near future: PUG members presenting project with PBI at TCOM Chicago, Oct 5
    • This fall, PUG monthly meetings at Microsoft Store in Freehold Raceway Mall.
    • Considering date for CNJ PUG in Hamilton, NJ

Leaving you with a simple PBI-DIE (DAX is Easy) -- DAX is not so easy, but a few are, and here's one many of us can use.

    Starting in PBI Desktop:
Let's say we have a dataset that includes a column (field) for FirstName and another for LastName.
And we want a new column that combines the two as FullName.
Click " ... " at the right edge of the dataset under FIELDS.
    Select "New Column"
Enter the DAX in the formula bar.
    Example: FullName = DataSet[FirstName]&" "&[LastName]

This DAX concatenates the first and last name.  Assuming we want a space to separate the names we do that with < &" "& >.

That's it!  Come to a CNJ PUG and practice on Aug 29.
