  • 1.  Power BI connecting to Salesforce object requiring SOQL code

Our company uses Domo BI. I'm comparing Power BI with Domo to see if it brings any improvements.
One feature of Domo is that it can connect to Salesforce custom objects and do custom links with SOQL queries.

Note: I am not a Salesforce developer, or even a Salesforce power user. I don't have access to Salesforce directly.
I've been using Power BI for about 6 months.

I'm trying to duplicate a Domo data query of the Salesforce ContentDocLink object. When I select this object I get the following error:

DataSource. Error: Implementation restriction: ContentDocumentLink requires a filter by a single Id on ContentDocumentId or LinkedEntityId using the equals operator or multiple Id's using the IN operator.

I just don't know where to go with this. Any wisdom out there?

    Thanks,
    Clark

    Hello Clark,

I'm not sure I can add much insight personally, but I did find some results based of a search of your error.  Have you seen this?..
ContentDocumentLink filter error on ContentDocumentID using IN clauseContentDocumentLink filter error on ContentDocumentID using IN clause

ContentDocumentLink filter error on ContentDocumentID using IN clause
I have to get all the "linked" records from a Document ( ContentDocument) and then filter only the Events from them using the following apex. // Query ContentDocumentLink object for the 'Event' link and apply 'WHERE' filter of the above map's contentdocument id.

    Hi David,

Thanks for this information from the Salesforce site on querying the ContentDocLink object.

The SOQL query we are using works in the DOMO BI, so I don't have issues with the query syntax.

My problem is that I don't see how to do a SOQL query in Power BI

Hi @Clark Walliser, i'm in the same situation, trying to do a SOQL query from Power BI.  Have you found a solution ?
