Refresh Schedule timing

    Good day

    Wondering about the actual time when a schedule refresh will occur.

    I saw an old post of a couple of years ago stating it could be an hour half beyond the scheduled time.

    Interested in knowing your experience.

    Hey John!

    The schedule Refersh timing depends on your license.

    If it is a pro or pro(trial) then you can only do it 8 times a day.

    If you have premium or capacity based then you can do unlimited schedule referesh in a day.

    Hope, this helps.

    Hi John,

    The article you were looking might be outdated, please refer the below blog post for current updates;

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/refresh-scheduled-refresh

    You can select the frequency, time & timezone of schedule refresh.

    As mentioned in the article as well;
    The Power BI service targets initiating the refresh of your data within 15 minutes of your scheduled refresh time.

    Thank you for your speedy responses.

    I need to be more precise. What I am specifically looking at is the actual time of the refresh compared to the scheduled time.

    Recently, I had a refresh take place 17 minutes past the set time.

    I have read (but it was over two year old posting) that it can be up to one and half hours after the scheduled time. I did not find anything recently concerning this.

    Do you have any metrics on this or know of a Microsoft SLA?

    Thanks

    Jesus,

    17 minutes past the set time!! Hmm, must be a weird data source or gateway problem....17 minutes is too much from the set time.

    Please check you port which is TCP 443 (default), 5671, 5672, 9350 through 9354. listening towards the refersh entry.

    Hi John,

    Schedule time is different than the actual refresh time.

    By Actual Refresh time it means the time taken to get to the data source, authenticate & load all the rows to data model successfully.Now this could depend on various factors like how your gateway is responding, how your network is & how your hardware is serving the queue.

    If you are continuously getting this slow data refresh problem you need to have a deep look into debugging your refresh cycle.

    FWIW, I tend to stagger scheduled refreshes (most are overnight) and avoid too many running concurrently. Here is a typical time difference I experience between scheduled & actual time:PBI Refresh Times
    Hope this helps.
