  • 1.  Cannot log in with Chrome v100.0.4896.88

    Sorry for the post, but I was unable to find a way to email or message site admins directly and I wanted to be able to help others before I got too busy with other things.

    I encountered a bug with this site and Chrome v100.0.4896.88 on Windows 10. I access this machine with Remote Desktop, so that may or may not be an issue.

    But the bug is I could not see the login boxes on the login screen though the browser was on the right page. I only have uBlock Origins as an extension and that was off for this site.

    Solution: When I upgraded to Chrome v100.0.4896.127 it worked and I was able to log in.

    I don't know if this affects other chromium-based browsers. I hear MS Edge is Chromium- based. Chromium is the engine behind the browser user interface.

    I too have regular issues logging into this site to post questions or replies. My browser is administered by my organization and updates often. I miss posting a fair amount, but have to wait some time and then able to log in again. Today I was lucky and was able to log in!

    Hi C,

    I have also regularly problem with logging in. Firefox 64bit. 99.0.1 Updated. Today I logged in via Edge.

    EDIT: Today, Thursday, 21/04/2022 I logged with Firefox without any problems.

    More often than not I have the same issue...
    Chrome works about 5-10% of the time. No Idea why, but it is VERY frustrating. I have tried everything from clearing history to allowing all tracking and 3rd party cookies :-( No Luck... Only thing that really works, is to use MS Edge.

    After weeks (months?) of copying URL's from Chrome to Edge to login and access the site, I found a handy little chrome extension to easily move a page (or open a link) from Chrome to MS Edge - there are a few of them out there - just search chrome extensions for "open in Edge".

    Well I'm sort of glad to hear it's not just me. To help narrow this down, will each person please provide the following info?

    1. If you are on a desktop PC, or mobile when you have problems logging in.
    2. Which browser and version you are using.
    3. Your OS name and version. "Windows 10" should be enough for now. Windows 11 is new, expect to have more problems with that. I know I am but not with internet or this site.

    Also, I can suggest some things to try to help you.

    1. In your browser, disable ad blocking browser extensions like uBlock Origin for this site. I use uBlock Origin because it's easy and powerful. I just left click on the icon, and click it to turn it off for a site and it remembers that setting. There are several extensions that use the name "uBlock" so get the right one. This is uBlock Origin for Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en
    2. Whitelist this site in the browser built-in in popup control. That is, in your browser's built-in popup control, whitelist this site.
    3. Whitelist this site in your OS level security software like Avast, Malwarebytes, Trend Micro security, McAfee, Norton security or whatever package you use. Consult their help page for directions.
    4. If your IT department blocks this site at the router level ask them to whitelist it. They may not because they are responsible for security. And at some companies their employee review rating is based on the number of "security events" that happen during the year.
