From the server how do I actually run the application?
I want to see the configuration before patching.
    Don't see any shortcuts.
Also during a upgrade will I get prompted for any service accounts info or need an email address to complete the upgrade?

I have the recovery key only

    Hi @Na Na,

For the On-premises data gateway for Power BI, there are a couple of caveats you may need (depending on your situation).

IF already installed and running on a local server to connect to local network resources, you should find the program in the start menu named "On-premises data gateway", but it is also in program files as the file "EnterpriseGatewayConfigurator.exe". Similarly, if the program has been connected to the Power BI service already and you merely need to update the program to the latest version, it should be as simple as downloading the software and installing the most recent version. At the time of this writing, the latest version should be located here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53127. If you are unsure what version you are currently on, opening the program should display a version number on the "Status" section of the software (usually with a link to download the latest version if needed).

Hopefully, this is all you need to do. If you find yourself in a scenario where you need to reconnect specific data sources, read on...

If the software is no longer connected to the service, or this is the first time setting it up, you likely will need an account in Power BI granted a service administrator role to establish a new connection. From the local server where the gateway is set up, you will see a "Sign In" button, once signed in to the service, the Power BI website will identify the gateway and allow it to be configured. This is done by logging into the Power BI service in a web browser using an administrator login, selecting the "gear" icon, and selecting "Manage Gateways".

From here, you MAY run into connections that are having trouble reconnecting to local data resources. If this is the case, each credential set will need to be addressed individually (depending on what it is). That may require some help from other system administrators within your organization.

    Good luck!
