    Hi Everyone,

I am trying to create a new Power BI report that needs to pull data from another Power BI report. In other words, I don't want to repeat all process and create similar report which is already created. I want to pull data from report 1 which is refreshed everyday, and use this data to summarized within a new report and dashboards.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks.

    Hi @S B,

If you want to use the same dataset that you have already used in a PBI file, you can publish it to the service and when you create the new report, as a source you can use that PBI dataset. For this you can click on Get Data > Power BI Dataset.

Recently Power BI introduced the capability to copy paste visuals between different reports, provided the dataset is the same.
Since you are using the same dataset, you can leverage this capability and copy paste the visuals you need from the old report and make new ones as required.

This way you do not need to maintain 2 datasets.

I hope I have understood you problem and hopefully provided the optimal solution.

    Thank you,

P.S. - You can always copy paste the old file and then edit the new file, but I doubt the problem is that simple.

    Thank you for your help.

I I copy the dataset from other PBI service, I will not be able to pull other dataset to the report. I know you can copy and paste visuals but you cannot load data from additional xl files or sql server.

    Thanks.
