    Hey all!

I got asked to do a presentation to high school kids about data science/visualization, does anyone have any cool ideas of what I could show them?

My specific audience is the advanced computer science class, but I figure this thread could help anyone gather ideas for any kind of presentation to youth.

    Hi Liz,

It's not a particular subject per-se but I often find inspiration in Nicky Case's blog.
Games like 'we become what we behold' are a fun accessible way of thinking about influence in the media, which links well with current news stories.

I hope this is of interest and agree it would be great to build up a net of resources for presentation inspiration.

    All the best,

So fun! Let us know how it goes!

I think kids and teens are always interested in what other kids and teens are doing. Here are some examples of kids working in data...

After playing with the data, he noticed that there was a big drop in citrus production from 2004 to 2005 (see viz below). Being the data rockstar that he is, he asked "what happened?"

Eight-year-old Judah Bausili has been playing a whole lot of Pokémon Go lately. He and his dad, Ben, have caught 46 so far. "I've caught Doduo, Bulbasaur, and the last one...I can't remember," says Judah. Judah has always enjoyed catching Pokémon, but he hasn't always been discerning about the types he caught.
